30 Aug

one year ago today, you came into this world and we were forever changed. never in a million years could we have imagined how much love and joy you would bring into our lives. you have so much light in your soul, that it radiates out of you and makes everything around so much brighter. our hearts are so filled and each day continues to get better. you made us a mamma and a papa and that is the greatest gift we could have ever been given. thank you for your smiling face, contagious laugh, morning snuggles, opened mouth kisses,  daily serenades,  wicked dance moves, for teaching us to slow down and see things through your eyes, and  most importantly, for your unconditional love. you truly are the love of our lives and  the air in our lungs. we can’t wait for many more adventures with you. happy 1st birthday potato! we love you!

san diego…..

palm trees

i love little summer vacations, where you’re gone just long enough to recharge your batteries,

forget all your worries, and enjoy the people around you.

we took a week off of life and headed to the coast to do just that.

the baby and i hitched a ride down to san diego with my parents a couple days early

and giuseppe joined us for the weekend.

it was so fun to have matteo spend some one on one time with his nonno and nonna.

they got so use to his routine and being with him 24/7 that they were sad to see us go.

we were sad too cuz we wanted to stay indefinitely.

i could for sure put this on my list of top 10 places to live!

here’s a few shots of our week!

does it get any better than being on a swing overlooking the ocean?

la jolla

how he looks at him just melts me. you can to scoop my heart up off the ground now please.

these were seriously taller than me and just so beautiful.

they also happen to be giuseppe’s favorite flower, so they tend to catch my eye more since i met him.

a bicycle built for five please!

giuseppe is forever on the hunt for the most perfect pizza. i swear he could eat it every day.

so of course we made a few stops to fill his craving.(and ours too)

this particular pie is from Bruno’s Pizzeria close to downtown.

salty air

my potato is always happy but i’s say that salty air made us feel just a little more chipper

hotel del

we spent an afternoon in coronado at the hotel del coronado.

we had lunch on the patio, rode a bike built for 5 and then had the rest of the day to play at the beach.

isn’t this place just beautiful?

i had my fingers crossed that matteo would enjoy the beach as much as i do.

i was like, please love the ocean and the sand and the wind in your hair,

if you are my child, you have to…….

he was timid at first. i placed him on our beach blanket and he crawled to the edge of it,

testing out the sand with one hand, and examining it as it stuck to him.

then without hesitation……. handful of sand in the mouth!

he loved exploring through all the seaweed and rocks,

and the little rushes of cold water that came just close enough for him to splash in.

i think it’s safe to say he had a good time.

hooray!….. i’m a happy mamma

sand castle

we were lucky enough to be lounging right next to a guy making sand castles.

not a bad way to end a day.

beach boys

here’s a shot of my boys from a day when went went to the beach on the bay.

it was so peaceful.

a lot less crowded and quiet.

we think this is the way to go if you’ve got littles ones that you want to be able to set free.

it’s was easier to keep an eye on him and we weren’t worried about the waves taking him under.

little moment

ok, so i think i was a little more excited than anyone to go to the zoo.

i used the excuse that matteo would love to see all the animals,

but in all honesty, he was probably a little too young.

not too sure if he even knew we were there.

at least we have a few pics to prove it, right?!

this trip just made our summer. can we go back please?!

till next time san diego…..

p.s. yes, i lived in a hat all week, all day, every day :)

4th family

some exciting things happened yesterday!

not only did my dad turn the big 6-0, but it was also matteo’s first 4th of july!

we celebrating by having a big party

filled with all my dad’s favorite foods, like ribs, chicken wings, and a cream puff birthday cake.

matteo got to swim and i swear he must be part fish.

we would put him on the edge of the pool and he would launch right in with no fear.

so happy he loves the water. unfortunately it was cut a little short when a little rain storm rolled in.

we didn’t mind though, it was actually a nice relief from the hot days we’ve been having here,

plus matteo got to play in the rain which he’s never done before.

so i was a full day of “first’s.”

two hours past matteo’s bedtime, we ended the night with some firework action.

i think the sparklers were his favorite, or maybe i just made that up cuz they’re my favorite!

either way, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect holiday!

here’s some pics of the festivities.

 our ridiculously handsome,  incredibly lovable

sweet, smiley, squishy baby boy is almost 10 months!!!

every month seems to get better, but we are really loving this age.

he’s always happy and puts light in our life every day.

he imitates everything we do now and is practically on the run.

so we wanted to share a little bit about this

yummy little lover of ours!

  1. he has four teeth
  2. his favorite foods are avocado, beets, and blueberries
  3. his laugh is contagious
  4. he looks ridiculously handsome in blue
  5. he loves to give kisses
  6. he waves hello
  7. he thinks mamma is the greatest singer (don’t tell him otherwise)
  8. he pulls himself up on everything (we’ll have a walker her soon)

the past six months…..

2 Apr

…..i can’t believe he’s mine…..

it pretty amazing how much a little baby can change in just six months,

and change you for that matter.

it’s like you can’t take your eyes off of them for one second

in fear that your going to miss their next big discovery,

or the first of many little things they do in their precious beginning months of life,

like giggling, rolling over, discovering their hands, or imitating you.

they help you to stop and enjoy the little thing in life

because you realize how mesmerized they are

at their first sight of rain, or smelling a flower, or noticing a shadow in the dark

or hearing a happy song or feeling the wind hit their face.

and each day your love for them grows so much that you feel like your heart is going to burst.

you can’t remember what life was like before them, nor do you want to.

i only wish i could pause certain moments in time

because i know that it will all be gone in the blink of an eye.

so i find my self writing down all the special moments, every first, little colds,

likes and dislikes, and everything in between

so i can look back one day and remember how my life was forever changed by this little baby.

…..i just can’t believe he’s mine!…..

24 Feb

time sure does fly. i mean, is february almost over? there’s no excuse for my absence from the blog besides having way too much fun over here being a mom, and as much as i love documenting all of our little adventures, i put spending time with my little family and sleep first. so pardon me if these post come few and far between. but i’m here now and i have much to tell. january sure was eventful. the husby turned 30, we also celebrated my mom birthday,  we had a dinner party, cooked a lot, laughed a lot, enjoyed our beautiful weather and our beautiful baby.

fox friend

this little one is growing and changing everyday and just when i think he couldn’t get anymore delicious,

the next day he goes and does something that just melts us!

we had some tiny friends over for dinner!

i’m not sure who we should keep locked up, him or her?

birthday breakfast

this guy turned 30!!!!! and even though he doesn’t like much fuss over his birthday, a proper breakfast was in order.

we spent the day downtown with our little guy, just enjoying each others company.

make shift birthday candle! all that matters is that you get to make a wish, right?!

family birthday

tiny helpers for all these candles! mom and the husby’s birthday are two days apart

so we celebrated them both with the whole family.

cronut cake

only the best birthday cake ever. i mean, i know new york is famous for their cronuts

but let’s get real here, who doesn’t like anything fried, buttery and rolled in sugar?

caught up with an old friend, which i love. and so happy she got to meet mister matteo.

it’s hard getting a photo with a bay but i think this one was perfectly awkward.

we’ve been eating tons of vegetables over here lately and these heirloom radishes where delicious!

so not exactly sure if he understood what was going on here, but i’m just happy that he didn’t hate it.

the swings were my favorite as a kid and i just hope he loves it as much as i do.

these two sure have made life sweet and each day is getting better.

never did i imagine that a tiny person could make our lives feel so complete.

one of theses days i’ll catch up with the blog, but for now,

here’s a look into on january and stay tuned for scenes from february!

8 Jan

with christmas so early in the week this year, it made for a long weekend!! so we decided to get away after the holiday and head to the central coast, san luis obispo “slo county” to be exact. this was matteo’s first vacation, which made it even more exciting.  our little man did so good on the road,….he must be a natural. my mom use to call me a gypsy, so i may have given him a little of that traveler gene.

treethis tree was seriously amazing and the photo does no justice to it at all

they call this bubblegum alley and it’s exactly that. both sides of the alley were completely covered in gum on top of gum on top of gum. i’m talking like a couple inches thick here. it’s disgusting and awesome all at the same time.

just one of our tasty treats!

rolling hills

we toured a vineyard in paso robles and stumbled upon this amazing view

the weather there was kinda crazy. in the mornings and nights you would need full on winter coats with hats and scarves and gloves, and the days were warm and sunny. so warm in fact that we got to take matteo to the beach one day. we put his chubby little toes in the sand and let him feel the water, not to mention i finally got to break out the baby aviators which are just hilarious and ridiculous all at the same time.

beach day

beach bum

now that we know this handsome boy travels so well, we look forward to more of these little weekend getaways. next time when we can actually go in the water though, cuz if this kid likes the ocean as much as he does the bath, then we’re in for a treat. and by then he’ll be crawling or walking and that means sand everywhere. i’m talking in the mouth and in all his yummy little rolls! the things to look forward too!!!

here we go 2014…..

3 Jan

hooray for 2014!!!

i’ve never been really good a keeping my new years resolutions,

so this year i’ve decided to focus more on

making mini goals for my self throughout the whole year.

sort of like makeovers for different parts of my life,

like bettering my soul, my family, my outlook on life in general.

i want to be more open-minded to change

and see only positive in everything and everyone.

so i guess that’s still pretty much a resolution, huh?

well i’ll try it out and let you know how it goes.

so many wonderful things happen for us in 2013,

the most obvious one being little matteo,

but something tells me 2014 is going to be pretty great too.

and so the adventure continues for us,

now just with baby included!!!

can’t wait to share them with you!

so happy new year friends!

make it a good one!

christmas 2013…..

2 Jan

santamatteo’s first christmas was a success!

even though he has no idea who santa is

and will never remember meeting him in this photo,

the season just wouldn’t be the same without

the jolly old man!

these days we just buy gifts for the little ones

and even though i know the kids don’t even notice the wrapping,

it’s still my favorite part. i love making all the packages pretty!

the holidays felt different this year,

naturally all of our attention was focused on baby matteo

and celebrating our first christmas as a family.

i couldn’t help but to get excited thinking of

how we’ll spend our holidays from here on out,

making new traditions and

really feeling the magic that littles bring.

matteo makes 5!

the family is growing fast and

my parents live for the grandkids.

i love seeing all the cousins together!

visiting friends is always fun too!

we’ve already have these two’s first date planned!

can’t wait for these two to play together.

i just love the holidays

and they always seem to just fly by so quickly.

next year will only get better though.

matteo will be one year old and

one year closer to understanding

all the joy the holidays bring.

we hope your holidays were as lovely as ours!
