san diego…..

29 Jul

palm trees

i love little summer vacations, where you’re gone just long enough to recharge your batteries,

forget all your worries, and enjoy the people around you.

we took a week off of life and headed to the coast to do just that.

^^^^^^^^

the baby and i hitched a ride down to san diego with my parents a couple days early

and giuseppe joined us for the weekend.

it was so fun to have matteo spend some one on one time with his nonno and nonna.

they got so use to his routine and being with him 24/7 that they were sad to see us go.

we were sad too cuz we wanted to stay indefinitely.

i could for sure put this on my list of top 10 places to live!

^^^^^^^^

here’s a few shots of our week!

enjoy!

swing

does it get any better than being on a swing overlooking the ocean?

la jolla

admire

how he looks at him just melts me. you can to scoop my heart up off the ground now please.

sunflowers

these were seriously taller than me and just so beautiful.

they also happen to be giuseppe’s favorite flower, so they tend to catch my eye more since i met him.

bike

wave

a bicycle built for five please!

pizza

giuseppe is forever on the hunt for the most perfect pizza. i swear he could eat it every day.

so of course we made a few stops to fill his craving.(and ours too)

this particular pie is from Bruno’s Pizzeria close to downtown.

salty air

my potato is always happy but i’s say that salty air made us feel just a little more chipper

hotel del

we spent an afternoon in coronado at the hotel del coronado.

we had lunch on the patio, rode a bike built for 5 and then had the rest of the day to play at the beach.

isn’t this place just beautiful?

^^^^^

i had my fingers crossed that matteo would enjoy the beach as much as i do.

i was like, please love the ocean and the sand and the wind in your hair,

if you are my child, you have to…….

explore

he was timid at first. i placed him on our beach blanket and he crawled to the edge of it,

testing out the sand with one hand, and examining it as it stuck to him.

then without hesitation……. handful of sand in the mouth!

he loved exploring through all the seaweed and rocks,

and the little rushes of cold water that came just close enough for him to splash in.

i think it’s safe to say he had a good time.

hooray!….. i’m a happy mamma

sunset

not a bad way to end a day.

beach boys

here’s a shot of my boys from a day when went went to the beach on the bay.

it was so peaceful.

a lot less crowded and quiet.

we think this is the way to go if you’ve got littles ones that you want to be able to set free.

it’s was easier to keep an eye on him and we weren’t worried about the waves taking him under.

little moment

zoo

ok, so i think i was a little more excited than anyone to go to the zoo.

i used the excuse that matteo would love to see all the animals,

but in all honesty, he was probably a little too young.

not too sure if he even knew we were there.

at least we have a few pics to prove it, right?!

4th family

some exciting things happened yesterday!

not only did my dad turn the big 6-0, but it was also matteo’s first 4th of july!

we celebrating by having a big party

filled with all my dad’s favorite foods, like ribs, chicken wings, and a cream puff birthday cake.

**********

matteo got to swim and i swear he must be part fish.

we would put him on the edge of the pool and he would launch right in with no fear.

so happy he loves the water. unfortunately it was cut a little short when a little rain storm rolled in.

we didn’t mind though, it was actually a nice relief from the hot days we’ve been having here,

plus matteo got to play in the rain which he’s never done before.

so i was a full day of “first’s.”

**********

two hours past matteo’s bedtime, we ended the night with some firework action.

i think the sparklers were his favorite, or maybe i just made that up cuz they’re my favorite!

either way, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect holiday!

here’s some pics of the festivities.

santamatteo’s first christmas was a success!

even though he has no idea who santa is

and will never remember meeting him in this photo,

the season just wouldn’t be the same without

the jolly old man!

presents

these days we just buy gifts for the little ones

and even though i know the kids don’t even notice the wrapping,

it’s still my favorite part. i love making all the packages pretty!

loves

the holidays felt different this year,

naturally all of our attention was focused on baby matteo

and celebrating our first christmas as a family.

i couldn’t help but to get excited thinking of

how we’ll spend our holidays from here on out,

making new traditions and

really feeling the magic that littles bring.

growing

matteo makes 5!

the family is growing fast and

my parents live for the grandkids.

i love seeing all the cousins together!

together

visiting friends is always fun too!

we’ve already have these two’s first date planned!

can’t wait for these two to play together.

********

i just love the holidays

and they always seem to just fly by so quickly.

next year will only get better though.

matteo will be one year old and

one year closer to understanding

all the joy the holidays bring.

********

we hope your holidays were as lovely as ours!

there’s always so much to be thankful for,

those who are near or far,

that we see everyday or once a year.

for the one that we have started

that has given me the gift of becoming a mother.

….family…..

happy birthday to me…..

13 Jun

i don’t know if it’s cuz the big 3-0 isn’t till next year

or the fact that baby boy is on the way

but i really just wanted a low-key birthday this year.

so spending the day with family and close friends at sunday brunch

sounded right up my alley.

^^^^^

but my birthday wish came true when

the husby surprised me by coming home early from his trip!

a night at home and a dinner at my favorite pizza shop

couldn’t have made my day more perfect!

^^^^^

i would also like to thank everyone who sent me birthday wishes!

new citizen

its been a long time coming, 8 years in the making to be exact. but the day has finally come!!!!!

my handsome husband is officially an american citizen!

hooray!!!!!!

it was a proud day for the both of us. starting with a small ceremony at the court-house,

with some inspirational speakers that made for a memorable day.

so over the weekend to celebrate this great honor, i decided to throw an all american party,

including, sliders, hotdogs, all the traditional sides,

an american flag cake, root beer floats, and some of our lovely guests brought

apple pie and donuts.

doesn’t get much more american than that.

we couldn’t be more thankful for all the people who shared in our celebration,

and i couldn’t be more proud of my husband

carmine giuseppe conte! aka:husby

the americano!!!!

thanks everyone, we love you!
