san diego…..

29 Jul

palm trees

i love little summer vacations, where you’re gone just long enough to recharge your batteries,

forget all your worries, and enjoy the people around you.

we took a week off of life and headed to the coast to do just that.

^^^^^^^^

the baby and i hitched a ride down to san diego with my parents a couple days early

and giuseppe joined us for the weekend.

it was so fun to have matteo spend some one on one time with his nonno and nonna.

they got so use to his routine and being with him 24/7 that they were sad to see us go.

we were sad too cuz we wanted to stay indefinitely.

i could for sure put this on my list of top 10 places to live!

^^^^^^^^

here’s a few shots of our week!

enjoy!

swing

does it get any better than being on a swing overlooking the ocean?

la jolla

admire

how he looks at him just melts me. you can to scoop my heart up off the ground now please.

sunflowers

these were seriously taller than me and just so beautiful.

they also happen to be giuseppe’s favorite flower, so they tend to catch my eye more since i met him.

bike

wave

a bicycle built for five please!

pizza

giuseppe is forever on the hunt for the most perfect pizza. i swear he could eat it every day.

so of course we made a few stops to fill his craving.(and ours too)

this particular pie is from Bruno’s Pizzeria close to downtown.

salty air

my potato is always happy but i’s say that salty air made us feel just a little more chipper

hotel del

we spent an afternoon in coronado at the hotel del coronado.

we had lunch on the patio, rode a bike built for 5 and then had the rest of the day to play at the beach.

isn’t this place just beautiful?

^^^^^

i had my fingers crossed that matteo would enjoy the beach as much as i do.

i was like, please love the ocean and the sand and the wind in your hair,

if you are my child, you have to…….

explore

he was timid at first. i placed him on our beach blanket and he crawled to the edge of it,

testing out the sand with one hand, and examining it as it stuck to him.

then without hesitation……. handful of sand in the mouth!

he loved exploring through all the seaweed and rocks,

and the little rushes of cold water that came just close enough for him to splash in.

i think it’s safe to say he had a good time.

hooray!….. i’m a happy mamma

sand castle

we were lucky enough to be lounging right next to a guy making sand castles.

sunset

not a bad way to end a day.

beach boys

here’s a shot of my boys from a day when went went to the beach on the bay.

it was so peaceful.

a lot less crowded and quiet.

we think this is the way to go if you’ve got littles ones that you want to be able to set free.

it’s was easier to keep an eye on him and we weren’t worried about the waves taking him under.

little moment

zoo

ok, so i think i was a little more excited than anyone to go to the zoo.

i used the excuse that matteo would love to see all the animals,

but in all honesty, he was probably a little too young.

not too sure if he even knew we were there.

at least we have a few pics to prove it, right?!

together

with christmas so early in the week this year, it made for a long weekend!! so we decided to get away after the holiday and head to the central coast, san luis obispo “slo county” to be exact. this was matteo’s first vacation, which made it even more exciting.  our little man did so good on the road,….he must be a natural. my mom use to call me a gypsy, so i may have given him a little of that traveler gene.

treethis tree was seriously amazing and the photo does no justice to it at all

bubblegum

they call this bubblegum alley and it’s exactly that. both sides of the alley were completely covered in gum on top of gum on top of gum. i’m talking like a couple inches thick here. it’s disgusting and awesome all at the same time.

pickings

just one of our tasty treats!

dancing

rolling hills

we toured a vineyard in paso robles and stumbled upon this amazing view

ribs

the weather there was kinda crazy. in the mornings and nights you would need full on winter coats with hats and scarves and gloves, and the days were warm and sunny. so warm in fact that we got to take matteo to the beach one day. we put his chubby little toes in the sand and let him feel the water, not to mention i finally got to break out the baby aviators which are just hilarious and ridiculous all at the same time.

now that we know this handsome boy travels so well, we look forward to more of these little weekend getaways. next time when we can actually go in the water though, cuz if this kid likes the ocean as much as he does the bath, then we’re in for a treat. and by then he’ll be crawling or walking and that means sand everywhere. i’m talking in the mouth and in all his yummy little rolls! the things to look forward too!!!

solo trip …..

14 Jul

avila beach

the husby and i took a little trip to the central coast

for the 4th of july.

this was our last trip together

before baby boy gets here.

it’s kinda crazy as the holidays go by,

that come september

we will never be alone for a holiday again.

we can’t wait to share our life with this little man.

but until then, here’s some pics from our solo trip!

road trip….. part two….. pups first beach day

25 Sep

traveling with two large dogs can be a little difficult, but at the same time it does take  some stress off the mind, worrying about what’s going on with them back home.  this was our furthest adventure we had ever taken them on, and there was  a lot to be concerned about. the first leg of our trip we stayed with our friends who have three dogs: 1 blind, 1 deaf, and two of which are small. so you can imagine the stress we had of how our dogs would all get along together. despite our fears, it went wonderfully! they all just meshed so well and we could breathe a sigh of relief.  the second part of the trip was heading to the coast where we would stay in a dog friendly hotel. the first thoughts that went trough my head were, hairy, stinky, dirty rooms. boy was i wrong!!! we stayed at a hotel called dolphin bay and it was amazing. we had a whole little condo with a kitchen, living room, bed room, patio, dog beds and bowls and even a little box of dog treats. it was immaculate, and  the doors from the patio were two hundred feet from the bluffs. there was a path way that over looked the water and lead you down to a private little beach. words can not describe this view. but the thing that made this trip so amazing and worth the stress, was letting our pups run free on the beach and play in the ocean for the first time ever! this is definitely a trip we would consider doing again. and i would put this at the top of our list as one of our best trips to date!

a little road trip…. part one

17 Sep

visalia, california. a little town in the central valley surrounded by farmers and their cows. this is the town the husby first lived in 8 years ago when he moved to this country. and now after 6 years in vegas, we decided to take a little road trip to the valley. this being my first time there, i was a little hesitant because all the stories i had heard before made it sound like, (well for lack of a better word) a dump. but i have to say, i really enjoyed it. it was exciting to see the husbies old hangouts and even better to meet his friends. particularly his two friends who were so kind to open their home to us, james and michelle. they really made our trip so special, and i feel like i made some new friends my self. they own the quaintest little coffee shop on main street called tazzaria, that also serves food, and a pizzeria also on main street, called pizanos. delicious pizza, just like in naples.  here’s a couple pics from the first part of our trip, but stay tuned for more!!!

that’s james and michelle!

they roast their own coffee too!

… getaway …

13 Jul

…..

there’s nothing quite as nice as a weekend getaway to the beautiful west coast, and that’s exactly what the husby and i did this past weekend. we decided last minute to get out of the vegas heat, and into the crisp cool california air.  i will say though, the husby probably had an ulterior motive,  he wanted to visit a couple of motorcycle and scooter shops in and around LA, and i’ll use any excuse to getaway for a few days. we stayed with one of my oldest and dearest friends, julia and her husband.  they are always so kind to open up their home for me when ever i’m there and for that i am grateful. thanks friend :)

we spent a day in los angeles, enjoying the local farmers market, checking out motorcycles and visiting a museum. giuseppe made dinner one night while i taught my friend how to make my moms famous chicken cutlets. we also had some delicious meals out at some of my favorite california restaurants. we spent our last day hanging at the beach, bathing in the sun, sooooo nice.  we couldn’t have asked for better weather or for more fun, in the 3 days we spent there.

here are some pics of our little adventure…..

it took me forever to get him in this water. he’s use to warm water and no waves.
