san diego…..

29 Jul

palm trees

i love little summer vacations, where you’re gone just long enough to recharge your batteries,

forget all your worries, and enjoy the people around you.

we took a week off of life and headed to the coast to do just that.

^^^^^^^^

the baby and i hitched a ride down to san diego with my parents a couple days early

and giuseppe joined us for the weekend.

it was so fun to have matteo spend some one on one time with his nonno and nonna.

they got so use to his routine and being with him 24/7 that they were sad to see us go.

we were sad too cuz we wanted to stay indefinitely.

i could for sure put this on my list of top 10 places to live!

^^^^^^^^

here’s a few shots of our week!

enjoy!

swing

does it get any better than being on a swing overlooking the ocean?

la jolla

admire

how he looks at him just melts me. you can to scoop my heart up off the ground now please.

sunflowers

these were seriously taller than me and just so beautiful.

they also happen to be giuseppe’s favorite flower, so they tend to catch my eye more since i met him.

bike

wave

a bicycle built for five please!

pizza

giuseppe is forever on the hunt for the most perfect pizza. i swear he could eat it every day.

so of course we made a few stops to fill his craving.(and ours too)

this particular pie is from Bruno’s Pizzeria close to downtown.

salty air

my potato is always happy but i’s say that salty air made us feel just a little more chipper

hotel del

we spent an afternoon in coronado at the hotel del coronado.

we had lunch on the patio, rode a bike built for 5 and then had the rest of the day to play at the beach.

isn’t this place just beautiful?

^^^^^

i had my fingers crossed that matteo would enjoy the beach as much as i do.

i was like, please love the ocean and the sand and the wind in your hair,

if you are my child, you have to…….

explore

he was timid at first. i placed him on our beach blanket and he crawled to the edge of it,

testing out the sand with one hand, and examining it as it stuck to him.

then without hesitation……. handful of sand in the mouth!

he loved exploring through all the seaweed and rocks,

and the little rushes of cold water that came just close enough for him to splash in.

i think it’s safe to say he had a good time.

hooray!….. i’m a happy mamma

sand castle

we were lucky enough to be lounging right next to a guy making sand castles.

sunset

not a bad way to end a day.

beach boys

here’s a shot of my boys from a day when went went to the beach on the bay.

it was so peaceful.

a lot less crowded and quiet.

we think this is the way to go if you’ve got littles ones that you want to be able to set free.

it’s was easier to keep an eye on him and we weren’t worried about the waves taking him under.

little moment

zoo

ok, so i think i was a little more excited than anyone to go to the zoo.

i used the excuse that matteo would love to see all the animals,

but in all honesty, he was probably a little too young.

not too sure if he even knew we were there.

at least we have a few pics to prove it, right?!

americano…..

15 Jan

new citizen

its been a long time coming, 8 years in the making to be exact. but the day has finally come!!!!!

my handsome husband is officially an american citizen!

hooray!!!!!!

it was a proud day for the both of us. starting with a small ceremony at the court-house,

with some inspirational speakers that made for a memorable day.

so over the weekend to celebrate this great honor, i decided to throw an all american party,

including, sliders, hotdogs, all the traditional sides,

an american flag cake, root beer floats, and some of our lovely guests brought

apple pie and donuts.

doesn’t get much more american than that.

we couldn’t be more thankful for all the people who shared in our celebration,

and i couldn’t be more proud of my husband

carmine giuseppe conte! aka:husby

the americano!!!!

thanks everyone, we love you!

let the countdown begin…..

1 Dec

so december is here, and quickly i might add.

i hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving with their families and friends.

i know i sure did!

i don’t know about you guys, but my house is already fully decorated for christmas!!!

hooray!!!!!

i love when the house smells like pine cones and winter berry candles.

i think the only thing that would make it feel a little more like the holidays would be some cooler weather.

but i don’t think i can complain too much, 70 degrees in december….. whaaaaat???

we took some family pictures this past weekend for our x-mas cards, and since we like to pretend that we are photographers (we are nowhere near pros, haha!) we took the photos our selves. kinda difficult when you have to keep running back and forth to set the timer. anyways, here’s a couple shots from the shoot.

you’ll have to wait to see which one made the cut for the card!

let the count down to x-mas begin………. 25 days

happy december everyone!!!!

pumpkins galore….

18 Oct

we had a little pumpkin party over here this past weekend. i went a little over board in the pumpkin purchasing department.i just couldn’t help myself, they were all staring me down at the store. and all those goodies you saw from the last post, i made for this party. (check them out here ) i also bought carving stencils, tools, and pumpkin gut scrappers, along with paint and brushes. i love getting family and friends together, and decorating pumpkins just made it feel a little more like the holidays!!

… a shower …

1 Aug

i can’t think of a better way to celebrate the growth of a new life then with a shower, and that’s exactly what we did this past weekend.  my dear friend genevieve is a little less then 8 weeks away from meeting the newest addition to her family, and if the anticipation of this little ones arrive wasn’t enough, the lovely couple has decided to keep the sex of the baby a surprise. ahhhhh!!! what a lovely shower we did have though.  the natural and organic theme was the perfect backdrop to this sweet little party.

some of my favorite moments of the day:

  1. the birthday wishes filled out by each guest, to be opened each year on the babies birthday
  2. genevieve asking how she will know what nipples to use with what bottle and when
  3. listening to everyones reactions to the impossibly perfect baby room
  4. the table scape that housed the most charming party favors
  5. all the itsy bitsy baby clothes that i can’t wait to see on this secret little baby
  6.  the nap i got that afternoon after three days of preparing what i think was the most inspired shower i’ve ever seen

our dear friends and the happy expecting couple

the charming favors i was talking about. little tree’s to plant and watch grow, as their little one grows

this is the cake i practiced for at my birthday.

thanks genevieve for letting me help you and your family throw an amazing shower,

and for allowing me to blog about it!!!

… and now, a room just for baby …

happy friday!

… getaway …

13 Jul

…..

there’s nothing quite as nice as a weekend getaway to the beautiful west coast, and that’s exactly what the husby and i did this past weekend. we decided last minute to get out of the vegas heat, and into the crisp cool california air.  i will say though, the husby probably had an ulterior motive,  he wanted to visit a couple of motorcycle and scooter shops in and around LA, and i’ll use any excuse to getaway for a few days. we stayed with one of my oldest and dearest friends, julia and her husband.  they are always so kind to open up their home for me when ever i’m there and for that i am grateful. thanks friend :)

we spent a day in los angeles, enjoying the local farmers market, checking out motorcycles and visiting a museum. giuseppe made dinner one night while i taught my friend how to make my moms famous chicken cutlets. we also had some delicious meals out at some of my favorite california restaurants. we spent our last day hanging at the beach, bathing in the sun, sooooo nice.  we couldn’t have asked for better weather or for more fun, in the 3 days we spent there.

here are some pics of our little adventure…..

it took me forever to get him in this water. he’s use to warm water and no waves.

summer music

29 May

this concert filled weekend was a goodie. friday night a few friends and i went to see incubus perform at the joint inside the hard rock. this was my second time seeing them and i think my favorite. the first show i went to was in a large arena and my seats where what most like to call, “nose bleed”.  i got to view this show in my favorite section, “GA floor”, smushed in the middle of the action, feeding off of the crowds energy, and close enough to see the sweat on brandon boyd’s brow!

saturday night brought me to the blvd pool at the cosmopolitan to see young the giant perform. this show was amazing!!! for sure one of the best bands i’ve ever seen live. the blvd has quickly become one of my favorite venues for shows, and the summer lineup only adds to my excitement!!
