1st halloween…..

6 Nov

pumpkin baby

this post is better late than never.

halloween creeped up on me faster than i was ready for it.

i  have sort of lost track of the days since baby matteo got here.

he couldn’t have come at a more perfect time though

because we do get to celebrate all the best “first” holidays!

i kind of slacked when it came to the costume part,

and painting pumpkins with a newborn

didn’t happen quite how i planned.

regardless, we had an awesome time

with family and friends and

it seems that we may have started a tradition over here,

pumpkin decorating at our house!

this was our second year hosting.

yay!!! i love new traditions.

so even though we didn’t have costumes and

our pumpkins didn’t get finished,

i’d say our first halloween with matteo was still a success!

hope you all had a safe and spook-tacular halloween!

(i know, that was really corny, lol!)

my favorite trick or treater’s….

1 Nov

so halloween has come and gone, and quickly i might add.

and even though i didn’t think of a clever costume (i was still festive ) and the husby had to work,

it turned out to be a pretty spooktacular evening with my favorite trick or treater’s!

look how creepy my nephew looks in the back like a shadow

pumpkins galore….

18 Oct

we had a little pumpkin party over here this past weekend. i went a little over board in the pumpkin purchasing department.i just couldn’t help myself, they were all staring me down at the store. and all those goodies you saw from the last post, i made for this party. (check them out here ) i also bought carving stencils, tools, and pumpkin gut scrappers, along with paint and brushes. i love getting family and friends together, and decorating pumpkins just made it feel a little more like the holidays!!

festive foods…..

16 Oct

holiday’s mean holiday parties and with that comes food, the question is,

what food???

well i’ve got a couple halloween festive foods that are super easy and super yummy!!!

i hope this takes that stress out of your holiday party planning.

what fun festive foods do you like to make?!

“pepperoni pizza snake”

“white chocolate pretzel bones”

things you will need for the pizza snake

  1. a sheet pan lined with foil and sprayed with cooking spray
  2. pizza dough (any kind, i used rosemary focaccia for more flavor)
  3. a little flour to roll out the dough
  4. rolling pin
  5. shredded mozzarella cheese
  6. any  pizza topping you like (i kept it classic with pepperoni for the allusion of blood and bones)
  7. an egg
  8. green food coloring
  9. 2 green olives for eyes
  10. 1 red pepper for the tongue
  11. 2 toothpicks

– begin by pre heating your oven to 350 degrees

– flour the surface of your counter and roll out the dough to a rectangular shape

– add your topping to the center portion making the first and last layer cheese

– roll the pizza into a log

– form into an “s” on your greased sheet pan, seam side down

– brush the top of the roll with the beaten egg and food coloring

– bake for 30-35 min. or until golden

-place toothpicks where the eyes would go and then place olives on the toothpicks

– cut the pepper into a tongue shape and place in the mouth

– then serve!!!!

easy as that!!!

now for the white chocolate pretzel bones

  1. pretzel rods
  2. mini marshmallows
  3. white chocolate to melt
  4. wax paper
  5. a fork

– put a mini marshmallow on each end of the pretzel rod

– dip in melted white chocolate (i melt my chocolate in the microwave at 30 sec 3x)

– use the fork to fish the bone out

– place on wax paper

–  refrigerate for 15-20 min or until chocolate is hard

– place in a bowl and serve

happy party planning everyone!!!!!

halloween’s past….

15 Oct

i’ve been having some difficulty deciding on a costume for the husby and i this year.

i love dressing up… the husby… not so much.

but he’s a good sport, or i’m just torturing him every year and he doesn’t say anything.

either way, we need some costumes.

any suggestions????!!!!
