there’s nothing quite as nice as a weekend getaway to the beautiful west coast, and that’s exactly what the husby and i did this past weekend. we decided last minute to get out of the vegas heat, and into the crisp cool california air. i will say though, the husby probably had an ulterior motive, he wanted to visit a couple of motorcycle and scooter shops in and around LA, and i’ll use any excuse to getaway for a few days. we stayed with one of my oldest and dearest friends, julia and her husband. they are always so kind to open up their home for me when ever i’m there and for that i am grateful. thanks friend :)
we spent a day in los angeles, enjoying the local farmers market, checking out motorcycles and visiting a museum. giuseppe made dinner one night while i taught my friend how to make my moms famous chicken cutlets. we also had some delicious meals out at some of my favorite california restaurants. we spent our last day hanging at the beach, bathing in the sun, sooooo nice. we couldn’t have asked for better weather or for more fun, in the 3 days we spent there.

… the 4th …
5 Julwe had ourselves a nice little 4th of july at my parents house yesterday, which also happened to be my dad’s birthday and my mom’s return from her 2 week trip to italy (so happy to have her back). just some close friends and family with good food and fun. we barbecued some chicken, burgers, lamb chops and steak sandwiches. i made all the desserts, which were italian cream puffs and an angel food cake trifle, 4th of july themed, of course. after all the yummy food, we got a good laugh with everyone playing the Wii, just dance 3. we ended the night with our little baby fireworks for the kids. only thing missing from the night for me…. sparklers…. not one single sparkler in the pack, so sad. overall the day was great and i am so thankful that i got to spend the holiday with such amazing people.

i kind of like this whole holiday in the middle of the week, makes for a nice long weekend!

unfortunately, the husby got bit by a scorpion last night, which made for a pretty painful night for him, and a pretty sleepless night for the both of us. so aside from the sleep deprivation, we are looking forward to having a much happy, more festive day, which should be, cuz it’s the 4th, yeah!!!! today is my dad’s birthday, so we are having a bbq at their house, so stay tuned for the holiday post. i’m hoping to have the whole computer situation taken care of by monday, so sad to say, no pictures again today :(…

29 Junif you’re wondering why i haven’t posted anything in a while, it’s because my poor computer crashed on wednesday and i lost everything on it. this wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if someone was backing up their computer every so often, but of course, i did not back up mine. i’m not the most computer savvy person, so i was naive to the fact that everyone should be backing up their info at some point. so i had to learn the hard way. i’m still not sure how much stuff can be recovered from the hard drive, but i’m trying not to get my hopes up to high, just to prepare my self for the worst. i will say though, this event has made me very grateful for my blog because i have gotten to document so many important events and fun times in our lives for the past three months. so since i am using my husbands computer, which is fairly new and has not a single photo on it, i can’t attach any new pics to this blog. i hope to have my computer back soon, so i can get back to my happy blogging place (this time “backing up” everything i put on it) with pictures and all!!

25 Junhere’s a couple of things we’ve done around the house lately,
to make it feel more like a home!
it’s funny how a couple of cans of spray paint and chalk board paint can make me feel so happy.
i’ve also been rearranging furniture and re-styling shelves.
the husby thinks i’m crazy, but it just makes everything feel fresh and new,
plus, i just can’t help myself. i like change!
